A wonderful Victorian oasis in the heart of Boston. Easy access to all that Boston has to offer. Easy walk to Boston Commons, great neighborhood restaurants and a front desk that is helpful and well informed.

    Superb

The hotel is located in Beacon Hill, which is a very quaint part of Boston City on antique row. It is also very convenient to many attractions by foot. Park is right down the street. I traveled with my 10 year old son and we had a blast. The Hotel is very quiet which was so nice after a long day in the City. Breakfast was served in our room every morning, there was no common area for this, which actually was great. We placed our order the night before and specified the time when we wanted breakfast delivered. Great service, right on time, which was nice as we were on a tight schedule having to catch the ferry, whale watch tour, etc. on time. Our flight did not leave until late afternoon after we had checked out, but the hotel held our luggage for us all day at no extra charge until we were ready to go to the airport. I would go back to this hotel.

Room was a little dark, but we did not spend much time in there, so overall it did not matter.

Free snacks/refreshments in the room. Staff went out of their way to handle a special request. Antique feel to the decorations. Thoroughly modern bathroom, very comfortable bed.

    Fabulous

Beautiful small hotel, with lots of period features and furniture. Rooms large and comfortable, location great. Breakfast provided to your room as standard!

Was not informed by either Booked.net or hotel that our 5 night stay was to be in two different rooms, only discovered when our things had been moved. Breakfast provided each morning was missing items requested on three separate occasions.

    Fabulous

Location is very good for public transportation. Atmosphere very good for "flavor" of Boston in days gone by. Staff very good. It fulfilled our needs for a 4 day visit to Boston. We were prepared to do a lot of walking without having to rent a car. The hotel gave a sense of architecture for the time period of the 1860'S. Overall, a very good experience !

Our only problem was the air conditioning system was not working one day and one night. The management acted promptly to have repairs made. Once the a/c was back on it was quite satisfactory.

    Superb

We booked 2 King rooms by internet for 3 nights. When we arrived, although it was in the morning, we were told that there were no available king rooms. We tried to insist, but the receptionnist was not open to discussion and just answered that we would get what they had. The rooms were undersize considering the amount of heavy furnitures in it. The bed was too small and uncomfortable, and the windows looked over St Charles Street which is quite noisy with traffice at peak hours. Globaly the room was rather luxiourious nevertheless. Next morning, the receptionnist had changed. He was a charming lad and promptly arranged for us to move into the King rooms we had booked. This time, the size of the room was much bigger, the bed was a king size and was much more comfortable, and the windows looked over the back (garden or so). This was perfect. The Charles Inn is a small hotel, with no breakfast room, so they deliver the breakfast to the room every morning. There is all tea, coffee making facilities in the bedroom, so we make it ourself. There is also a small fridge. The area of the hotel in Beacon Hill is very nice. The choice of restaurants around is good but limited, and sometimes it was impossible to get a table without prior booking. We will certainly come back to this hotel, but make sure before we arrive that we do get the king rooms, which are so much superior for the same price.

    Very good

It has a great location-right next to many shops and restaurants and a short walk to Boston Commons.

One would expect a little more TV choice at these prices for those rainy days. Most of the cable channels were blocked off. No HBO-nothing. Also, we stayed there a week and the breakfast was identical every single day. Again, at these prices I expected a bit more.

It's not full service, but did include breakfast pastries, etc. were quite good. It is cute and charming. I would happily stay there again. The location can't be beat.

    Good

We enjoyed our stay for 5 nights. It is located in a quiet and beautiful residential area and it's convenient to get to subway station/sightseeing bus stop from this cozy hotel. It is not a famous big hotel with lots of rooms & staff although hotel fee is quite high. However we didn't mind our payment after all. Jacuzzi bathtub was lovely after walking here and there all day. Delivered breakfast on the coffee table in our room was pretty good.

It would be nicer to have more variety of egg dish for breakfast.

Our room was very cold.Heating system did not work for 2 nights in this cold autumn. When we complained , one of staff in the front desk got angry and went somewhere leaving us.He is very rude, and his attitude is not what a hotelman is supposed to do. We are so shocked. My wife cried a lot.We decided to leave this hotel soon.I Never forgive what he did to us.

Very quaint and had a European feel. The room and bathroom was large and comfortable. It's located right on Charles Street and easy to walk almost anywhere in Boston.

The carpeting was a bit tired--but the area rugs added a nice touch to keep the room looking more "antique". It was on the very expensive side of what it was really worth.
